Hyundai continues its push to revitalize its entire lineup with the introduction of the all-new 2011 Hyundai Elantra (aka Avante). Unveiled at the Busan Motor Show, Hyundai’s global best-seller now offers even more style than its predecessor.

In addition to its fresh, sleek design, which shares many cues from Hyundai’s latest products, the Elantra is powered by a new new 1.6-liter Gamma GDI engine that produces 160 horsepower. This unit features fuel efficient technologies, including Continuously Variable Valve Timing and Variable Induction System, and is also mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

“The new Avante encompasses Hyundai’s latest ambitions, featuring the best styling and performance in its class,” Steve S. Yang, President & CEO of Hyundai’s Global Business Division, said at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center today. “We’re confident that it will once again redefine the compact segment worldwide.”

Although the Hyundai Elantra is the Korean brands biggest seller, it certainly needed to offer much more if it was expected to compete with some of the latest compact sedans, such as the Honda Civic, Ford Focus, and Chevrolet Cruze. Despite its tough competition, the 2011 Hyundai Elantra looks more more than capable of giving its competition a run for its money.

Since the introduction of the Avante/Elantra in 1990, the car has sold more than 6 million units worldwide. The all-new model is slated to go on sale in Korea later this year. Check back soon for for information on its U.S. release.
