It’s the first time JoonAng llbo is hosting the Best Car of the Year award. With so much anticipation from auto enthusiasts, automakers from Hyundai were excited to hear the news. About 19 auto experts evaluated many cars from January 2009 to March 2010 as the possible winner. Yesterday, the award for Best Car of the Year for 2010 was given to Hyundai Motor’s YF Sonata at the Buson International Motor show.

The finalists included: GM Daewoo’s Matiz Creative, Renault Samsung’s SM3, Kia Motors’ Sportage R, Sorento R, Kia K7, Ford Taurus, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and the Toyota Prius. These cars were selected on April 16 and were evaluated in so many ways. Each car was tested in seven areas, including ride quality, driver satisfaction, price, fuel economy, design, safety, technology, and eco-friendliness.

During the test driving portion of the competition, the Hyundai YF Sonata showed it is truly a safe commuter car. The panel stated, “Innovative improvements on previous models were also taken into consideration.”  Korean customers were more than satisfied to see the Hyundai as the winner!
