The Hyundai Genesis Coupe has received rave reviews for its surprising performance. Despite being an all-new model from a brand that’s not exactly known for creating sports cars, the Genesis Coupe has held its own against the likes the Ford Mustang and Nissan 370Z, just to name a couple. Now for 2011, Hyundai is upping the ante with a new R-Spec model that adds to the performance quotient.

The new R-Spec model improves upon the already stellar Genesis Coupe and its powerful 306 horsepower V6 engine. With new 19-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, stuffer suspension, and a limited slip differential the R-Spec model is for drivers that take performance very seriously.

“The interior upgrades, our hot new 3.8 R-Spec model, and revised lineup of six focused models show that Hyundai is meeting the demands of our customers,” said Scott Margason, director, product planning, Hyundai Motor America. “The upgraded interior is a great illustration of how Hyundai continually raises its own high benchmarks for quality.”

Inside, the R-Spec will even receive sportier seats with larger bolsters. Aside from that, all 2011 Genesis Coupe models will receive more soft-touch finishes, matte surfaces, and metallic accents. New models will also receive a leather steering wheel cover and cloth-wrapped A-pillars.
