The Hyundai Genesis Coupe has already given the V6-powered Ford Mustang a run for its money. But soon, an all-new 5.0-liter V8 that’s being prepped for the Genesis Sedan and Equus may also find its way under the hood of the Genesis Coupe, giving Ford something else to be worried about.
Ford’s new 5.0-liter engine in the 2011 Mustang produces 412 horsepower. The new Hyundai unit, which is a bored out version of the current 4.6-liter Tau V8, will produce 429 horsepower.
This upcoming direct-injection 5.0 engine will for sure find its way into the Genesis Sedan for 2011. It will be mated to an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2011 Equus will eventually also receive it, but when it’s launched this year it will still feature the 4.6-liter unit.
