Chalk up another milestone for Hyundai: The company has moved up to become one of the auto industry’s top five most considered brands for U.S. new-vehicle shoppers. That’s according to the latest Kelley Blue Book “Market Intelligence” data, which pointed to Hyundai’s strong appeal with car customers as a key driver behind this performance.

Among potential purchasers of non-luxury sedans, coupes or hatchbacks, the number who would now consider choosing a Hyundai increased nearly 6 percent during the second quarter of 2010. As a result, the automaker currently trails only Honda, Toyota and Ford in this key industry measure, and follows just those three companies plus Chevrolet in terms of overall consideration rates. To put this into context, the Kelley Blue Book analysts ranked a full 37 different nameplates in their consideration data.

“The latest Kelley Blue Book Market Intelligence findings show how the deck is being reshuffled in the automotive marketplace, with certain brands now holding places in consumer perception that we may not have believed just one or two years ago,” said James Bell, executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com, who specifically noted that “Hyundai is truly on a roll.”

In other news from the team at kbb.com, Hyundai also earned praise for its improving customer-loyalty numbers, which are up 10.5 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2009. According to the website’s research, a robust 56.5 of current Hyundai owners looking for a new vehicle are considering a product from the same automaker.

The most important factor here, per kbb.com, was likely to be the many new and improved Hyundai models that today’s owners see coming to their local dealerships. These include such hot sellers as the Hyundai Sonata mid-size sedan and the Hyundai Tucson crossover, as well as the impressive new Hyundai Equus luxury sedan, which goes on sale later this year at Pohanka Hyundai  Marlow Heights. Service is also available.

To find out for yourself what’s behind these kinds of increasing loyalty and consideration rates, consider heading over to your local Hyundai dealership today.
