There are many changes awaiting existing Hyundai models in the upcoming model year. One of the most notable changes will be on four-cylinder engines, which will soon be capable of producing significantly more power.
Hyundai produces four-cylinder engines in a manufacturing facility based in Montgomery, Alabama. Here the automaker will soon introduce a direct injection system into their four-cylinder engine lineup, helping to sustain efficiency and boost power. Texarkana Used Cars say direct injection is a system where fuel is directed into the combustion chamber rather than into the manifold.
The simple addition of direct injection will allow for increased power, from 176 horsepower to 200 horsepower, while also helping these engines achieve even greater fuel economy according to one used car dealer Kingston. These new engines will soon be found in 2010 models such as the Sonata.
Hyundai will be spending the month of July retooling their manufacturing facilities to prepare the new engines for the 2010 model year. Hyundai has cited high demand for fuel efficiency as its primary motivation for revamping its four-cylinder engine offerings. Although many other automakers have been addition direction injection technology to their six-cylinder engines, Philadelphia Car Loans suggests that Hyundai may have made a smart move to focus on their efficient four-cylinders first.
